Royal Oak Bowls is a new club on the Auckland Bowls scene but certainly not one to be taken lightly! Through a much deliberated decision last year, the former Onehunga and Hillsboro bowling clubs merged in September 2017 to form Royal Oak Bowls. Positioned on the border of Royal Oak, the newly formed bowling club is now home to over 250 members of various playing and social categories. The merger set Royal Oak Bowls in good stride, with access to 2 outdoor greens and the building of the first fully enclosed indoor bowls in Auckland imminent within the next six months. The extremely large and well frequented clubroom is an extremely popular hub for local community and business groups with a modern and recently furnished members lounge, sports bar and main hall which can accommodate over 300 patrons.
With a mission to put the fun into bowls, Bowls3Five is the perfect place for the Royal Oak Rockets to celebrate one year as a club. As a relatively fresh club, the Royal Oak Rockets have already proven they are a competitive force having won the NZ Open Pairs, Auckland Champ of Champ Pairs, Auckland Champ of Champ Fours along with the very prestigious Auckland Bowler of the Year. With their renewed ambition the Royal Oak Rockets are set to assert themselves as more than just the new kids on the block at Bowls3Five.
